The National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA) hosted an Industry Day
for the NASA Agency-wide Information Technology
(IT)
Infrastructure Integration Program
(I3P) Acquisition.
Hundreds Hear about NASA’s IT
Infrastructure Integration Program
(I3P)
At the end of this decade, NASA will consolidate
IT Infrastructure Service requirements in five
agency-wide procurements to be announced soon.
NASA invited people from the IT industry to
attend a preliminary conference on July 23. More
than 800 people participated!
Kennedy Space Center CIO Mike Bolger coordinated
the event at the Regan Building in Washington
D.C. and on Webcast. He said: “We explained that
NASA will establish Source Evaluation Boards
(SEB) at MSFC, NSSC, HQ, and maybe one
additional
Center. We plan to issue RFPs in January 2009,
with new contracts expected to be in place by
December, 2009.

The procurements will preserve NASA’s
partnership
with both large and small business interests.”
NASA CIO Jonathan Pettus described the
significant transformation of NASA’s IT
management and infrastructure that is under
way.
The changes enable NASA’s mission by:
Better integrating the agency’s people,
processes, and information
Improving security
Achieving cost savings
Mike Bolger explains that the I3P
acquisition consolidates NASA’s IT
Infrastructure
requirements that will enable better Agency-wide
collaboration.
He said that the five I3P
procurements
represent a critical step in that
transformation,
and a successful partnership with industry will
be a critical factor toward achieving NASA’s IT
goals.
